Betsy Speaks at IUSA 2011

I just got back from San Antonio, where Imaging USA (IUSA) 2011 was held! Over 10,000 photographers were in attendance, and there was a lot to take in. In addition to the three days of programming and classes, there was the Imaging Expo tradeshow to visit. What an experience… if you’ve never been to IUSA — make sure to put it on your calendar for next year!

This year, I was honored to be a platform speaker for IUSA — as part of PPA’s GenNEXT program. The segment featured ten of PPA’s “up and coming” photographers under the age of 30, including myself! Here’s a program flyer:

Hundreds of photographers filed into the room where the GenNEXT program was held — one of the sponsors informed me that we had an audience of around 700 people. It was very exciting to present to a group of that size! My personal PR photographer, aka my husband, sat near the front so he could capture an image of me as I was speaking:

In addition to being a spotlight speaker at IUSA, I also had fun speaking during the tradeshow at the StudioPlus. I gave two programs at the StudioPlus booth — both dealing with the concept of sales presentations and image management. While the audience was a bit smaller than the one I spoke to during the GenNEXT program, the tradeshow audience found my presentation informative and helpful. All the available seats were filled, plus some standing room too!

And finally, here’s a view of the entrance to the Imaging Expo tradeshow, from above. The convention center had some nice peephole windows that allowed you to overlook the tradeshow from the second level of the convention center:
