It’s hard to believe that about a week ago, I was just getting back from Imaging USA.
Time seems to fly when life is busy, no?
At any rate, PPA put on a great show, that’s for sure. I wanted to attend more classes than I was able to attend… wanted to see more vendors at the show, and wish I had more time to spend with friends + colleagues.
This year at Imaging, I did receive another Bronze Photographer of the Year award, which was exciting. But, more exciting was being presented with my degree!
I received my Photographic Craftsman degree at the PPA awards ceremony. It was truly an exciting culmination of my teaching experiences this past year. My husband, Steven, conferred the degree medallion to me during the ceremony.
Both my parents and Steven’s parents both came to Nashville to see me get my degree. The snapshot of Steven and I before the awards ceremony to the left was taken by my mother. I’m so glad our parents were able to make the trip to Nashville… it is always great to have the support of family and friends. Well, when you’re surrounded by photographer friends — the latter is guaranteed, but it really meant a lot to have my family attend the awards ceremony.
Of course, when attending an event for photographers, there’s bound to be someone with a fast long lens documenting things. My friend, Joerg Lehmann, was awesome enough to photograph me while I was onstage getting my degree from Ron Nichols:

Joerg also photographed all the Bronze Photographer of the Year award recipients up on stage. I’m the middle red dress (and next to me is Carolle Dachowski, congrats Carolle!)

Congratulations to all the new degree + award recipients! I recognized a lot of faces + names on the list on the awards ceremony pamphlet.
