Yes, the best is always “yet to come” …but it doesn’t hurt to reminisce. For my last post of 2009, I decided to look through everything I’ve posted this year. Yup, I know I’m a day early, but I don’t care. So, here are a few of my “favorites” from 2009.
Best Book
Tough Times, Tough People
Ok, a little narcissism here, I admit. I picked this one as my favorite because I was published in it! But the story is really compelling, and it’s for a good cause. That’s why I wanted to revisit it.
Best Social Networking
Photographers vs. Facebook
My favorite because unfortunately, it’s also the most discussed topic. Is Facebook trying to mess with photographers’ livelihoods? Not really, they’re just trying to cover themselves legally.
Best Review
Are eneloop Batteries too Good to be True? Nope!
An easy one to link to. This review stuck out in my mind because of all the drama + debate about my testing methods. Yes, I could have done things differently, but regardless, the test still demonstrates that the eneloop batteries outperform the standard NiMH batteries.
Best Article
Keep It Reconciled
This article was the culmination of a lot of hard work on my part. I was really excited to be able to document the sync process for StudioPlus and QuickBooks… and ultimately decided to buy the software myself.
Best Comic-Extrapolation
Foolproof Career Choice
I kinda drew straws on this choice — I really enjoy all What the Duck comics, there are so many that capture the heart of issues photographers deal with on (or are familiar with).
Best Random Funniness
Do You Know Martha?
I love the concept of this post… Sometimes a little lightheartedness is really what you need to get your day off to a great start.
Best Personal Revelation
Waiting to See Myself on TV
While I know that reality tv isn’t really “reality” … I was still worried about how I might be portrayed on my TV experience. Having seen the show, I can now say… nope, it wasn’t really our reality. It was a created reality, yes, and funny to watch, yes, but nothing that really defines me. Just another example that shows anticipation can draw reality out of proportion.
That’s all for now! Have a wonderful New Year’s, and remember, there is still time to make some resolutions for yourself![]()
