Speaking: VPPA Seminar

I just got back from Virginia last night; I was there as a guest speaker for the Virginia Professional Photographer’s Association Spring Seminar. The event was held at the Fredericksburg Hospitality House, in Fredericksburg, VA.

The speaker line-up had some great variety, as you can see:

• Low-Light Image Capture – Marc Benjamin, M.Photog.Cr
• Improving your Web Presence – Betsy Finn, CPP
• Creating a Senior Buzz – Jackie Haggerty, Photog.Cr.

I had a great, attentive, audience during my program!  Many questions were asked, and I was able to answer many of them during the course of the program.

In short, I talked about websites, blogs, social media (twitter, etc), and covered some related topics like consistent branding.  I got some great ideas to add onto my program, so that is exciting as well.  I love it when everyone ends up learning something.

Aside from getting to meet some wonderful photographers, and see some friends again, one of my favorite parts of the trip was the live twitter demonstration (thanks @jackiehaggerty!)

Oh, and I also loved a comment from my friend.  I’ll keep her anonymous.  She’s a great photographer and this comment was meant in the best of ways:

I didn’t expect to learn anything new,  …but I did.

One of the greatest compliments is when someone goes in not expecting to learn anything new — and then ends up discovering new ideas and concepts.  Especially since I ran some of my program ideas by her.  Thanks anonymous friend!
