Area Coordinator Training in Colorado

Earlier this fall, I applied (and was approved) to attend the first ever Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep (NILMDTS) Area Coordinator training in Littleton, Colorado! Fifty-four volunteers from all over the world (yes, not just the United States) will travel to Little for two days of training and camaraderie. The training program will be funded by a grant that NILMDTS received.

Topics to be covered will include:

  • Recruitment
  • Relationship Building
  • Policies and Procedures
  • Logistical Management
  • Coping with Stress and Trauma

NILMDTS will also be making all of the materials available electronically after the training, for those Area Coordinators not in attendance,. I’m so glad that NILMDTS is doing this; the organization provides a truly valuable service to families facing the loss of a child (read my story, “Memories for Sarah“), and this training should make volunteering more straightforward for all of the Area Coordinators (and, of course, all NILMDTS volunteers in general).

Oh, and if you’re *not* already volunteering for NILMDTS, read this “introduction letter” for photographers.
