Sometimes when your “to-do” list piles up, you might feel tempted to just get it done, and not care about the results. Maybe you’re even feeling crushed beneath the pressure.
This comic reminds me of a quote I heard a while back. After a bit of searching, I was finally able to dig it up to share again with you. It’s the proportional theory of dread:
The amount of dread you feel is directly proportional to the feeling of relief you’ll feel once you simply complete the dreaded task.
Instead of wasting time worrying or procrastinating… put all that energy towards getting the job done. I know it doesn’t seem like it, but the more quickly you apply yourself towards completing the task, the sooner you’ll be able to feel that huge flood of relief wash over you. Focus on the task at hand, and look forward to getting it done instead of dreading the thought of getting started.
There’s always a way to look at something positively. Is the glass half empty, or half full? Life’s a lot easier if you remind yourself to look on the positive side.
