Well, I figured it was time to take another look at Animoto, especially since they’ve added a few new features! This time I put together an Animoto show featuring my cat, Jake. Why? Well, he was the only subject around when I had the video camera out… and the whole video concept isn’t something I’ve been promoting to my clients. But, nevertheless, this should give you the feel for how it works.
If you want to maximize the impact of the video clips being featured in your Animoto video, Animoto even provides some pointers for uploading video clips:
- A 30-second video uses 8-15 elements (text, images, video)
- Use 3-5 second video clip highlights for maximum effect
If you are like me, and uploaded a long video clip… don’t worry! Luckily, when you go to make your Animoto video, you can actually shorten your video clip. It’s really easy! All you do is pick your start point, then choose how long you want the clip to be (i.e., 2 seconds, 6 seconds).

Plus, if you want to insert more than one clip from that video… you don’t have to re-upload it. You can just hit “duplicate,” and then change the clip start/end time. It’s a pretty neat way to insert multiple clips from a single video.

So, without further ado – watch the Animoto video below (complete with video clips!).
