As you might guess, The Adobe Creative Suite Bible is a huge reference for all things Creative Suite. I purchased this book used at a discount, and was glad I did. If you’re wanting an overview of all the programs in Creative Suite, then you’ll probably find this book helpful.
On the other hand, I was hoping that this text would provide me with some great pointers on how to use GoLive and Photoshop better than I already did. In this respect, for me, it failed. Now I may just know too much about these programs (either that or I’m a quick learner!), but I would have preferred more detail on how to use the individual programs.
One focus of this book (which it did well) was to emphasize how the programs within CS work together. If you’re not sure how to efficiently switch from editing PSD to creating a web-ready file, for example, I’m sure this book would be quite useful. The text also focusing on building a design workflow and work with files that originated in Microsoft Office.
I’ll probably keep this text as a reference, but don’t count on me pulling it out anytime soon! If you’re looking for a text on just one or two of the programs, consider buying a book that focuses on each — that way you’ll get more bang for your buck!
note: I don’t have CS2, which is why I bought the first edition of this text — if you have CS2, you might consider the newer edition
